Respite Care

At Manor House Care Home, we understand that caring for a loved one can be rewarding but also tiring, and that sometimes, a short period of extra support can make all the difference. Our respite care offers a safe, welcoming environment where individuals can stay for a short time – whether it’s for a week, a few weeks or a little longer. During their stay, they’ll receive the same personalised, high-quality care as our permanent residents, with 24-hour support from our experienced nursing and care team.

Respite care can be helpful for recovery after illness, following a hospital discharge, or simply to give family carers time to rest and recharge. We also offer respite stays for people who may be considering long-term care, giving them the chance to experience life at Manor House before making a more permanent decision. Whatever the reason for the stay, we aim to make each person feel relaxed, supported and at home.

What is Respite Care?

Respite care is short-term care provided in a residential setting to give either the individual or their regular carers a break. It might be planned in advance – for instance, to cover a carer’s holiday – or arranged more urgently following a health event or a period of illness. Respite care is also commonly used after a hospital stay, to allow a person time to recover before returning home or making a longer-term care decision.

This type of care includes support with personal care, medication, mobility and nutrition, as well as emotional wellbeing and day-to-day routines. It’s a flexible service designed to provide the right level of care for the time it’s needed, delivered in a supportive, homely environment.

Respite Care at Manor House Care Home

At Manor House, every respite resident receives a full assessment and a personalised care plan, just as we would provide for someone moving in permanently. This ensures that we meet not only their healthcare needs, but also their personal preferences, routines and any emotional support they may require during their stay. Our team works closely with families and health professionals to make the transition into respite care as smooth and reassuring as possible.

Respite residents have full access to everything the home offers – from freshly prepared meals and daily activities to our landscaped gardens, in-house café and on-site salon. Whether someone is with us to recover, rest or trial life in a care home, we aim to provide a warm, comfortable setting where they feel supported, respected and truly cared for.
