Mental Health Care

At Manor House Care Home, we provide specialist nursing care for adults living with a range of mental health conditions, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and the long-term effects of substance misuse. We understand that mental health needs are often complex and personal, which is why our care focuses on consistency, trust and emotional wellbeing, as well as physical health.

Each resident receives a full assessment carried out by our multidisciplinary team before they join us. This helps us understand their history, routines, triggers and goals so we can build a personalised care plan that truly meets their needs. Whether someone is with us long-term or for a period of recovery and stability, our team offers thoughtful, compassionate support in a safe and structured environment where everyone is treated with respect.

What is Specialist Mental Health Care?

Specialist mental health care involves supporting individuals who are living with ongoing mental health conditions that affect their ability to manage daily life independently. This may include people with conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, severe depression or those experiencing mental health challenges linked to previous substance misuse. Care must be responsive, sensitive and tailored to the individual, taking into account their mental, emotional and social wellbeing.

Unlike general care, mental health nursing often involves managing changes in mood, behaviour or communication, as well as supporting medication routines and working with mental health professionals. This kind of care isn’t just about managing symptoms – it’s about creating stability, helping people regain confidence, and supporting them to live meaningful, fulfilling lives, in a place where they feel safe and understood.

Mental Health Care at Manor House Care Home

At Manor House, we offer tailored mental health care in a calm, supportive setting that’s designed to meet both complex and day-to-day needs. Our CDL Units are suited to residents living with a wide range of mental health conditions, and each area offers dedicated living spaces, communal lounges and access to our wider facilities such as the café, salon and gardens. We also support people whose mental health challenges are a result of substance misuse, with care plans developed in partnership with their healthcare providers, families and, where appropriate, social workers.

Our team is made up of experienced nurses, healthcare assistants and support staff who receive regular training in mental health care. We focus on building trust, maintaining routines and promoting emotional resilience, while ensuring that physical health needs are also fully supported. Activities, therapy sessions and one-to-one time are carefully planned around each person’s interests and energy levels, helping residents feel involved, valued and in control of their own care journey.

We support adults living with a variety of mental health conditions, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, and the effects of substance misuse. We also care for individuals who may have more complex needs and require consistent, structured support to maintain their wellbeing.

We focus on building strong relationships and maintaining a calm, structured routine to help residents feel safe and understood. Our team is trained in mental health care and works closely with GPs, mental health professionals and family members to ensure each resident receives consistent and compassionate support.

Each resident receives a full assessment from our multidisciplinary team before moving in, which helps us understand their history, symptoms, and personal routines. This allows us to create a care plan that reflects their individual needs, with input from family members and healthcare professionals. We also regularly review and adapt care plans to make sure they continue to offer the right level of support as needs change over time.
