Specialist Dementia Care

Our approach to dementia care is built around patience, familiarity and consistency. We focus on supporting each resident to live with dignity and as much independence as possible, in an environment where they feel safe, respected and understood.

Our dedicated dementia care is delivered by a team of specially trained staff who take the time to really get to know each individual – their routines, life story, and the things that bring them comfort or joy. We use this knowledge to shape personalised care plans that help reduce anxiety, build trust and support meaningful engagement. From structured daily routines to calming spaces and familiar surroundings, every element of our care is designed to help residents maintain a sense of identity and connection.

What is Specialist Dementia Care?

Specialist dementia care goes beyond general support and focuses on the complex and changing needs of individuals living with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease and other types of cognitive decline. As dementia progresses, individuals may experience memory loss, confusion, changes in behaviour and difficulties with communication. Specialist care provides the structured routines, emotional reassurance and tailored support that can make a real difference to a person’s quality of life.

This type of care requires a deeper understanding of how dementia affects each person differently. From recognising early signs of distress to managing challenging behaviours with empathy and calm, staff trained in dementia care are equipped to respond with skill and compassion.

Specialist Dementia Care at Manor House Care Home

Dementia care at Manor House is delivered in The Village, a purpose-built area of our home designed specifically for residents living with dementia and mental health needs. With four individual units, each with ten bedrooms, The Village provides a calm, structured setting that supports familiarity and routine. Residents benefit from dedicated lounge and dining areas, as well as access to our secure sensory garden – a peaceful outdoor space designed to stimulate the senses and encourage gentle movement and relaxation.

Our team receives regular dementia care training and works closely with families and healthcare professionals to ensure each care plan remains relevant and supportive as needs change over time. Activities are tailored to each resident’s abilities and preferences, helping them stay engaged, connected and fulfilled. Whether it’s music, baking, gentle exercise or simply time spent in conversation, we focus on small, meaningful moments that promote wellbeing and comfort every day.
